Dr. Deniz Tunçalp is Associate Professor Management and Entrepreneurship at Istanbul Technical University, Department of Management Engineering. Before joining ITU Faculty of Management, Dr. Tunçalp have worked in the ICT inustry for more than 15 years as consultant, manager and senior manager roles. Dr. Tunçalp has Ph.D. in Management. Master degrees in Law, Information Systems and Industrial Engineering, and a Bachelor in Industrial Engineering from Sabanci University, İstanbul Bilgi University and Middle East Technical University, respectively.

Dr. Tunçalp also had visiting positions at Carnegie Mellon Unversity and Politechnico di Milano. Dr. Tunçalp’s research focuses on organizational adaptation to technological changes, entrepreneurship, professions and qualitative research methods. Dr. Tunçalp had served editorial boards of Academy of Management Review and Journal of Computer Information Systems. He is currently serving at the editoral board of Journal of Global Information Technology Management and the Associate Editor of Management Decision journal.

Dr. Tunçalp is a renowned startup mentor and chief executive of technology development zones. He worked with hundreds of technology startups and voted by the cofounders to be ranked among the top 10 people with the highest impact in Turkish Startup Ecosystem in 2021 (9 th) and 2022 (2nd). He was the top executive of Istanbul Technical University (ITU)’s ITU ARI Teknokent Technology Development Zone between 2015 to 2020 and the founding general manager of ITU’s new 1773 ITU Technopark. He is the founder of ITU Cekirdek, ranked as the best university business incubator in the world by UBI Index, ITU Magnet, Turkiye’s first scale-up center and Innogate, Turkiye’s first international acceleration program landing 95 Turkish startups to the Silicon Valley succesfully. Dr. Tunçalp is also serving at the board of ITU SiM, Social Innovation Applied Research Center and a cofounder and board member at ITU Ginova Entrepreneurship & Innovation Applied Research Center.
