Othmar Karas is Vice-President of the European Parliament. He has been elected on behalf of the Österrechische Volkspartei of Austria and is member of the Group of the European People’s Party.As MEP, he is member of the Parliament Bureau and the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs, as well as Vice-Chair of the Subcommittee on Tax Matters. He is also substitute member of the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy, the Committee on Constitutional Affairs, the Delegation for relations with Palestine, the Delegation for relations with the United States, the Delegation for relations with the countries of Southeast Asia and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the Delegation to the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly, and the Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean.
