Clare Moody was elected as the Labour Member of the European Parliament for the South West and Gibraltar in May 2014.She is a member of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats Group in the European Parliament. She is currently the Vice-Chair of the Subcommittee on Security and Defence, and sits on the Committee on Foreign Affairs, the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy, and the Committee on Women´s Rights and Gender Equality.
Clare also sits on the Delegation to the EU-Armenia and EU-Azerbaijan Parliamentary Cooperation Committees and the EU-Georgia Parliamentary Association Committee, and also the Delegation to the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly. Clare is Co-Chair of the Georgian Friendship Group.
Prior to being elected as an MEP, Clare spent her working life as a trade unionist representing people in a wide variety of industries, including as a Regional Officer for Unite the Union in the South West.
